Sally Krystofik

Sally’s love for ballet is evident when she teaches.  Her passion for ballet started when she was 12, training with the Russian teacher Irene Fokine in Ridgewood, NJ.  Living outside NYC gave her the opportunity to see many ballet productions at Lincoln Center that fueled her desire to become a professional ballet dancer.

At the age of 17, Sally auditioned for the ABT Scholarship program and was accepted for her senior year in which only 15 girls from around the country were selected. She studied with several teachers, such as Patricia Wilde, Leon Danielian, Madame Pereyaslavec, and Jurgen Schneider.  Upon graduation, Sally went to dance with the Basel Ballet Company.  She performed in several works from independent choreographers as well as the full-length productions of Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, and the opera Aida. After 2 years she decided to return to the states and went to Chicago to perform the Nutcracker with Ruth Page and Larry Long.  Later, she joined the Milwaukee Ballet Company and performed in several short pieces and full-length productions of Coppelia and the Nutcracker.

Sally has been teaching ballet for 20 years.  However, during the mid 90s she and her family moved to Hong Kong to live for 3 years. Instead of teaching she was taking company class with the Hong Kong Ballet Company.  In 2009 Sally went back to ABT to get certified in their National Training Curriculum Teacher Training. Not only does Sally teach discipline that embodies the love of ballet, she emphasizes proper body placement, alignment and posture that is crucial in becoming a strong ballet dancer.
