Kristy Ulmer was born into the dance industry. As a second generation studio owner, Kristy’s passion for music and dance performance can be traced back as far as her grandmother and great aunt. A native Texan and proud mother of 4 children and two grandbabies, Kristy has been a big part of the youth of Plano and the surrounding areas for over 25 years. Educating dancers for over 2 decades, Kristy owned and operated her own studio from the age of 20 in Carthage, Texas. In transfer back to Plano, Kristy taught for her mother Shirley Williams for 10 years and after her passing in 1992, Kristy opened KJ Dance. |
Kristy’s involvement and contributions to performance, education and charity all create the perfect environment in which to give back. Kristy has worked from the runways of style shows for Tresseme hair products and Nautilus fitness products to productions for Foleys and Dillards Department Stores to name a few. In the early days of the Plano Television Network, Kristy choreographed various industrial commercials for the City of Plano. Pageants and charity events were also part of the early years of choreography for Kristy. Having a family and thriving studio are enough to keep this passionate lady busy these days. Still, Kristy finds time to choreograph and contribute to local school musicals and events annually. Kristy’s passion is being in the studio with her dancers, creating and developing movement through the unique personalities of each dancer. With several former students gracing Broadway stages, daytime T.V., Vegas shows, movies and commercials, Kristy takes pride in knowing that what starts so very young can cultivate into life long careers or just create unforgettable memories. Teaching even the youngest of KJ students, you will always find “Ms. Kristy” enthusiastic and eager for the next group of future stars. |
