I trained at KJ Dance Designs for 10 years, went on to major in dance performance at a highly ranked dance university, and am now pursuing a professional dance career in New York City. Without the excellent instruction, constant inspiration, and the studio's never ending commitment to bettering their students, I would not be where I am today. I joined the KJ Dance company in fourth grade. At that time we focused a lot on ballet, jazz, and tap training. The teachers always made sure we mastered both the technical and stylistic aspects across disciplines. That year was also my first to attend a dance convention. It opened up my eyes to all the talent that was out there. KJ does a great job of giving students the ability to learn and grow both inside and outside of the classroom. As I continued to train at KJ and moved up through the various companies, the teachers continued to present the students with expanded styles and repertoire. We also attended more national dance conventions. Kristy Ulmer, the owner and director, takes every student's progress as her own personal responsibility. By not only expanding the styles we learned in the classroom, but also increasing our exposure to outside talent, we were inspired and in turn became well-rounded and educated dancers.

We have three daughters that have been students at KJ for over 14 years (and by the time we're done, it will be 20 years!) One has graduated and gone on to college and two are still company members. KJ has been a fantastic place for our children. They’ve not only learned to be excellent dancers, but excellent people. My daughters loved it not just for dance but for the relationships they developed, the discipline it required, the teamwork it fostered, and the time management skills they needed. From the time they were little new dancers until they grew up into amazing dancers, they have always been treated like family by the staff at KJ. I have and would highly recommend KJ dance for any level dancer! |

Satisfied Customer. Although my daughter is now grown, she danced at KJ for many years. As an active member of the dance company, she and other members of the company have become life long friends. The teachers at the studio were like an extended family to my daughter. They always were supportive and understanding, and offered her guidance whenever she needed it. Kristy Ulmer, owner of the studio, helped my daughter develop the time management skills she needed to keep up with a hectic schedule of dance and school. Overall, the time my daughter spent at KJ was a very positive experience for her and our family. I would not hesitate to recommend KJ Dance to other families. |

My opinions concerning KJ Dance are based on years of experience. All three of my daughters enrolled in regular studio classes in the fall of 1995 and the youngest of the three danced there until her graduation from high school in 2009. Two of my daughters still teach at the studio from time to time. If you visit the KJ website you can see bios of Katie and Maeve in the “Where are they now?” section. Alana, who has Down syndrome, took regular hip hop classes at KJ through high school and volunteers at the KJ concert annually. As a parent and practicing lawyer spending my hard earned money and my precious time on activities for my children, I considered my options carefully and re-evaluated my choices annually. We stayed at KJ because excellent instruction and love for all of the students were constants. My children flourished there through all of the ups and downs that are associated with any long term committed endeavor. KJ has grown in professionalism and continues to do so. Dance studios are small businesses and parents need to be reasonable and fair-minded in their expectations. The staff at KJ put time spent with students at the top of their priority lists. The study of dance has many benefits for young people. Students can become more physically fit. They can develop greater musicality and creativity. They can learn teamwork. As a well-traveled observer of many studios at regional and national competitions, over many years, these benefits are only obtained when the studio in question pursues excellence without undue intensity. Your child needs to be actively engaged and feel accepted. At KJ the entire staff understands and lives by these standards. The studio's track record speaks for itself. I wholeheartedly recommend KJ for children of all ages. You will get your money's worth and your child will have a place away from school pressures to grow and thrive. I have so many happy memories of watching my children dance at KJ! |

Some of the best years of my life. I spent seven years in Pulse, KJ's award winning dance company. These are some of the best dance teachers in the country, by far - they go above and beyond in the classroom to ensure that their students become successful, well-rounded, and highly disciplined dancers. It's no surprise that they have grown exponentially throughout the past decade, and will continue to do so over the next several years. The teachers care immensely for their students, and are 100% invested in seeing each and every one surpass her potential. I grew so much during these years, and am forever grateful for the experiences I had and the friendships I made. If your daughter (or son) is interested in a really challenging and fulfilling dance program, this is the place to go. I promise you will not be disappointed. |

CLASS ACT DANCE STUDIO! KJ Dance Designs has a reputation nationwide as a "Class Act Organization" and for good reason - It Is! From the Office Staff that is very professional and very helpful to the Dance Teachers that share their wealth of talent, knowledge and precious time to groom these students into dancers that can leave KJ and compete at the highest level! It is a family of dancers that goes beyond their senior year in high school. These dancers continue to return to the studio to reconnect with their dance family for many, many years. What these dancers get in return for the countless hours they spend at the studio dancing is immeasurable. |
